Lindsay Lohan to play Screen Legend Elizabeth Taylor.

There has been much speculation and the rumour mill has been turning as to if Lindsay Lohan  is going to play the Screen Legend Elizabeth Taylor  in an upcoming Tv movie. Lindsay confirmed this when she spoke to Matt Lauer on the Today show which aired March 3rd. The actress admitted that she will indeed be playing the role of Ms Taylor. She told Matt that  she can understand why people would be scared to employ her but she is willing to prove herself and get her life and her carer back.

The Lifetime Original Tv  Movie is to be called Elizabeth and Richard and is about Richard Burtons and Elizabeth Taylors stormy and tumultuous relationship which was famously played out in the tabloids. They got married and divorced twice during the course of their life together.

Lindsay and Ms Taylor have a lot in common, both childhood stars, both had substance abuse issues and both having their  laundry aired for the world to see.

I really hope Lindsay appreciates this opportunity that she has been given and doesn't ruin it for herself. I believe her to be a talented actress and this role could  just be  what she needs to prove it. I would love to see her get her teeth into this role and get to the heart of the lady and see just what a remarkable person Ms Taylor was. How she overcame her struggle with substance abuse and used her celebrity to help people. In 1991 Ms Taylor established The Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation ETAF which fund raises to provide funding to Aids suffers throughout the world. Ms Taylor took huge risks in the 80's, helping to educate, and inform people. At that time people thought you could contract the disease by sneezing or shaking hands.  A business woman, a fearless activist who addressed General Assembly's at the United Nations on World Aids Day. An amazing lady.

Ms Lohan has big shoes to fill. I hope she sees it as an honour to play the Screen Legend and takes a leaf from her book, turn things around, do something good and productive with her life. Become a role model for young girls. I hope this goes well for Lindsay and she finally gets her life back on track and learns a thing or two from the Legend that was Dame Elizabeth Taylor.
