White Reiss Nanette Dress, Sold out! |
Kate Middleton a middle class girl from Bucklebury became the Duchess of Cambridge by marrying her long time love and Prince on the 29th of April 2011 at West Minister Abbey. HRH Prince William Arthur Phillip Louis of Wales, the son of Prince Charles of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer the future King Of England.
HRH Lady Diana, Wills Mum was a style icon. She broke rules when she wore from British Designers instead of Hardy Amies the official Royal dressmakers whom the Queen had given Royal Warrent to as the Royal Dressmakers Post War. Kate has rather large shoes to fill. Wills Mum was idolised by the British Public. She brought attention back to a rather dying breed of Royals in England.
Fashion wise Kate had a huge decision to make regards her fashion choices. Do i dress extravagantly and possibly come under fire from the public with a Nation and the rest of Europe in Recession, with people loosing their jobs and their homes. OR do i dress in British designers and be seen to support her own Country like Diana did or do i allow myself be dressed by Hardy Amies.
She started her year off with her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress, and went one better. She opted to wear affordable British labels like Alexander McQueen and High Street labels, like Reiss, LK Bennet and Zara. The minute Kate steps out in a High Street item it sells out. Her Zara black and nude lace £69.99 sold out within an hour on line. The Zara cornflower blue dress she wore the day after her wedding £49.99 sold out. The white Nanette Reiss dress £159 sold out. The camel dress she wore when meeting the Obamas £340 sold out. Reiss has reported a doubling of profits this year thanks to Kate. She even wore a white Whistles dress and caused a stir because she had bought it 3yrs ago and was unavailable.
Kate in my opinion has made a fantastic choice with her fashion. By shopping in the High Street she has shown herself to be just like any other young woman in England. She is elegant and graceful and accessible and respectful to a British Public who is struggling during these economic hard times.
