Annual Met Ball 2012, Who wore what?

Monday 7th May 2012 Annual Met Ball.

The Costume Institute Gala (or Costume Institute Ball) known as the Met Ball and nicknamed the "Oscars of the East Coast" is an Annual Ball that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museums fashion exhibit at the Costume institute. The red carpet evening where celebs arrive dressed to impress is described as the Fashion Industry's "Night of Nights". Fashion Industry experts and style magazines consider the event which is hosted by Vogue, to be the Fashion World's best red carpet event. It is regarded as the top annual social event in New York City. It's been an annual event since 1948 when the Costume Institute was founded.

This years event took place on Monday night 7th May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Here is a look at what some of the Celebs wore. I was expecting to see the most amazing creations ever seen on the Red Carpet. This is after all,  the fashion industrys Night.????

Who got it right?

Hillary Swank and Jessica Alba both looked stunning in  Michael Kors.
Scarlet Johansson  looked beautiful in Dolce and Gabbana.

Dianna Argon looked stunning in Carolina Herrera.
Amber Heard looked stunning in Zac Posen.

Rooney Mara in cutom Givenchy. But black and severe as always.
Ashley Greene in a Grecian goddess Atellier gown.

Who got it wrong?

Kirsten Stewart in Balenciaga. This is wrong for her, on somebody else  with a fuller figure to fill it out it might be better.  Kirsten always looks so uncomfortable. Like a child playing dress up. The shoes are so wrong.
Coco Rocha in vintage Givenchy. This does not work for me. The pink top and hair extensions make this outfit too loud. A yellow top would have been better.

Beyonce wore Givenchy Couture. As beautiful as Beyonce is  and can wear a bin bag and still look stunning this did not work. Her face and body is stunning as always,  The end is just too much. and too long.

What were they thinking?

Sarah Jessica Parker in Vintage Valentino. We know its vintage  but it  should stay in the 90 year old lady who owns it closet.

Mark Jacobs in a Commes des Garsons sheer lace shirt dress with pilgrim shoes. Oh Mark, did you get lost in Oz and borrow some shoes from the bad witch because her feet were sticking out  from the house and nobody was looking??
Elizabeth Banks wore Mary Katrantzou, where to start? Who wears this and says i look good.??
Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte. Added 20 years to her age in this.
Gyneth Paltrow in Prada. She got it so right at the Oscars this is just wrong for her. This lady can wear anything but this is just wrong. Its not cut right, and not right for this occasion. Gyneth is more sophisticated than this.
Florence Welch. Florence has her own style so she can be forgiven!

WORST, WORST, WORST, WORST!!!

For me Mary Kate Olsen and Anja Rubik are the very worst dressed. Mary Kate looks 90 years old, the dress coupled with her half starved frail bony frame is just awful. When are these girls going to realise that they need help and need to eat. This is not attractive and dangerous behaviour and bad role models for young girls,  Anja Rubik tried the Anjelina pose in her dress but it did not work at all.  That bony hip needs to be covered. Both these girls need to eat and asap. I hope young girls see these images and realise how awful and sad these girls look. Give me Beyonce. Kim K, Jlo any day. Beautiful healthy women with  glowing skin and look like they could take on the world.
